AROMATHERAPY OILS

AROMATHERAPY TREATMENTS ARE AVAILABLE AT MANCHESTER THERAPY CENTRE

The word aromatherapy was invented by Henri Gattefosse in France in 1928 to describe the science of using the oils of aromatic plants to heal the body and mind. One time when he burnt his hand he thrust it into a vat of Lavender oil and found that his hand healed much more quickly than expected, and with hardly any scarring.

Aromatherapy oils have been used for healing thousands of years; long before Gattefosse's discovery. There are records of their use as early as 5000 BC. Chinese and Ayurvedic Medicine used aromatherapy oils around 2000 BC. Aromatherapy oils are even mentioned in  passages of the Bible that speak of their healing properties.
Gattefosse started the science of aromatherapy and aromatic oils by documenting the components of essential oils and their healing abilities.
